Benefits of Tooth Whitening

You like the idea of lighting up the room with your smile. Of course, if your teeth are no longer as white and bright as they once were, you probably avoid smiling whenever possible. You do not have to live that way though. Consider the benefits of tooth whitening and see just what a difference it can make in your life. When you undergo a professional service, it is easy to see the benefits of tooth whitening.

Look Better and Feel Better

People get this procedure because they want their teeth to look better and brighter. They know that first impressions are important, so they might whiten their teeth before an interview or starting a new job. Looking good for others with a bright smile is great, but the benefits of tooth whitening go well beyond this. It is also about you feeling better about yourself when you smile. Whiter teeth will make you want to smile wider.

It Is Easy

One of the other benefits of tooth whitening is that it is easy. You can have the tooth whitening specialist take care of your treatment in the office if you choose. You can also get a take home kit from the dentist. It is a very simple process, and we can teach you what you need to do with the kit so you do not have any trouble.

However, one of the things you need to remember is that the over the counter options for teeth whitening that you buy, such as the strips, toothpaste, and trays in the drugstore are not as effective as those you can get from the professionals.

Benefits of Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth, you know it can be embarrassing to open your mouth and smile. In fact, you might be avoiding doing those things. Missing teeth can cause all sorts of other dental health issues. This is no way to live. It is time you learned more about the benefits of dental implants to see what they can do for you.

Top Benefits of Dental Implants

First, consider the aesthetic factor. When you have a tooth replaced with an implant, it will allow you to feel more confident. You will be far more interested in smiling. It will help to boost your esteem, and that can provide you with a nice psychological boost. Of course, the benefits of dental implants do not stop there.

The dental implants are the next best option to having natural, healthy teeth. They ensure you do not have any missing space in your teeth, as this would often cause your other teeth to shift position. You will retain your bite. Another one of the benefits of dental implants is the fact that the dental implants are a good long-term solution. When you take proper care of them, they will last for decades without trouble.

The care for these implants is quite easy. You treat them like you would normal teeth, which means brushing and flossing, just to help keep them clean and to ensure the health of the rest of your mouth. This is certainly an easier solution than getting false teeth and dentures. While they might be a good choice for some, they do take more maintenance and upkeep.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

When you went to the dentist or talked with a friend about your tooth problems, did you hear the dreaded words “root canal” uttered? Your friend may have tried to frighten you with horror stories, while the dentist probably tried to alleviate your fears. You see, root canals today are not as problematic as they were years ago. In fact, many feel that they are about the same as getting a filling. Do not put off getting a root canal if it is the best option for you. There are many benefits of root canals.

No More Pain

This is the biggest benefit. People associate root canals with pain because it is the pain that brought them to the dentist in the first place. The pulp in their tooth has become infected, and it needs to be removed. The root canal removes this and the pain goes away. Once the pain goes away, you can get back to your normal life.

You do not have to worry about pain every time you take a bite. You do not have to keep chewing in other areas of your mouth to avoid aggravating the tooth, which means you will not be suffering from uneven wear and tear on the teeth. You will then have a crown placed over the tooth, which will help to keep it safer for the future. These are just some of the other benefits of root canals.

Save Your Tooth With a Root Canal

Do you still have questions or concerns? Talk with our root canal therapy specialists about all the other benefits of root canals and what the procedure will be like. Call us at Wheatfield Family Dentistry at 716-694-1777 or you can visit the contact page.

You might still be worried about the pain after a root canal. Most describe it as being about the same as having a deep filling, and that it is easily treated with some over the counter pain medication.

February is Children’s Dental Health Month

Wheatfield Family Dentistry is pleased to announce that all patients can benefit from better awareness about dental health.  We have several specials for February and a special announcement about a Dental Health Club.

During the month of February children and adults can benefit from fluoride treatments at the low price of $10.00 during your appointment with one of our hygienists.  Fluoride protects both children and adults from cavities.  Fluoride also specifically benefits adults who have receding gums to decrease sensitivity and protects the root surfaces from decay.

Adults will also have the opportunity to have a Velscope oral cancer exam for only $10.00.  Oral cancer can strike at any age and has increasingly been associated with younger individuals who have been exposed to Human Papilloma Virus 16 and 18.  This is the same virus associated with cervical cancer in women, but it can cause oral cancer in men and women.  Other risk factors include smoking, and those who drink alcohol daily.

Screening for oral cancer should be done at least 1x every 2 years for adults not at risk and yearly for those with risk factors.  We at Wheatfield Family Dentistry always do a simple visual exam with every hygiene appointment, Velscope is a light enhanced exam that allows your dentist to see increased blood flow activity under the surface of oral tissues for earlier detection of cancers. Only 50% of people diagnosed with oral cancer live 5 years, it’s worth it to get checked!

Tooth Whitening Overview

People love the idea of having a bright, million-dollar smile that’s white as snow. However, the real world often intrudes on this. People drink coffee and wine and eat food that stains the teeth over the years. Many people feel that the idea of a beautiful smile is just a dream when they look at the mirror and see that dull grin staring back at them. However, it does not have to be the case. Tooth whitening could be just what you need.

Options for Tooth Whitening

When it comes to whitening your teeth, you have several basic options. Some of these are better than others. First, if you have been considering the tooth whitening options available in the grocery store, you might want to think again. While these can get rid of some of the stains on the surface of the teeth, they simply do not do as good of a job as the other options. Instead, you will want to choose the take home option you can get from a cosmetic dentist, or their in-office option. Both have proven to be very effective.

Things to Remember With Tooth Whitening

If you have veneers, implants, or crowns, you need to remember that the tooth whitening will not work on these. The process will only work on your natural teeth. Make sure that when you whiten your teeth, they can still match your other dental work! Another thing to remember is that people who usually have sensitive teeth might find their teeth even more sensitive after the treatment. You can talk with your dentist about this. They might suggest using a special toothpaste, which can desensitize your teeth for a month before the whitening process.

Dental Veneers Overview

Dental veneers have come a long way over the course of the past couple of decades. In the past, many of the veneers used did not look good. They were bulky and they gave people a fake looking smile. Fortunately, technology has caught up and the dental veneers of today are much better. They are made from a thinner material, which means they will look far more natural on your teeth. Even though the material might be thinner, that does not mean they are not strong. In fact, today’s veneers are quite durable.

The Instant Orthodontics Solution

One of the other names for dental veneers is instant orthodontics. This is because it is so fast and easy to get these done. In many cases, a patient will only need to have a couple of sessions with the dentist. They can get their porcelain veneers and be out of the office before they know it. This is a better option for many people who worry about spending years trying to correct their smile.

Why Choose Dental Veneers

If you have teeth that have been discolored over the years, and you have found that whitening does not help enough, you might want to consider using veneers. Those who have chipped teeth or gaps between their teeth will find that this dental option could be the perfect solution for them.

The goal of the veneers is to provide people with a good smile. Of course, this doesn’t mean everyone is a good candidate for dental veneers. Those who have missing teeth, for example, cannot get veneers to cover up that problem. They would need to choose another option, such as implants or bridges, for example.

Dental Implants Overview

One of the best options in the world of cosmetic dentistry today is dental implants. People today are less interested in bridges and false teeth. They want to have something that is permanent and durable, while minimizing maintenance efforts. Dental implants are the solution that many have been waiting for, and they could be the right option for you too.

Dental Implants for Your Mouth

The concept behind the implants is quite simple. The dental implant has three parts – abutment, post, and grown. The post is the part inserted into the gums and the jawbone. It will then fuse with the jaw to become permanent and strong. The abutment is on top of the post and the crown goes on top of that. The crown is the portion that looks like an actual tooth. The crowns are custom made so they look like the patient’s other teeth.

Those who choose dental implants will find that they have quite a few benefits. First, they restore function to the mouth by allowing people to chew better and to eat the foods they want. The implants will also ensure that other teeth do not shift and crowd into the space. Those who were missing teeth might have felt self-conscious as well, and they might not have liked smiling. Fortunately, these will restore that beautiful smile. You will feel much better once you have a lovely and healthy smile again.

Of course, even though these are all benefits, it does not mean that dental implants are right for you. It is important to consider whether you are a good candidate or not. Dental Bridges Overview

If you are missing some of your teeth, you know how much of an embarrassment it can be. Nobody likes to smile when they have big gaps due to missing teeth. However, you need to think about more than just the aesthetics of the matter. If you are missing teeth, it can make chewing more difficult. Other teeth try to move into the empty space, which can cause problems with your bite. This can increase instances of decay and gum disease, which leads to even more problems. One of the good potential solutions to this is to choose dental bridges.

How Do They Work?

If you are missing one or more teeth, you can get in touch with our dentists in North Tonawanda and learn more about the options you have available. Dental bridges are a good solution for many who are missing teeth. We can provide a variety of bridges including fixed bridges. One of the nice things about the fixed bridges is that they tend to be quite durable and can last a long time. They will also feel like normal teeth, so you can chew regularly and not worry about your other teeth crowding the space.

The bridge will require other teeth as anchors though. It is important that these teeth are in good enough shape to hold the bridge in place. Our restorative dentists can provide you with an examination to make sure this is the right choice for you. If bridges are not a good solution, we can figure out a better option. In some cases, implants or dentures might work better for the patient.

Root Canals Overview

Root Canals Overview

Of all of the dental procedures out there, root canals probably have the worst reputation. People fear them and jokes are made about them. However, the reason for this fear is generally because people know very little about them, especially with today’s modern dental technology. Do not listen to the misinformation that people spread. Instead, learn the truth about root canals.

An Easier Treatment

Today, this procedure is considered routine for dentists. In fact, they are not much different from getting a filling, since you will be under a local anesthetic for both procedures. This means you will not feel any pain. Our dentists work hard to provide you with the best and most painless experience possible. In fact, you will not have to worry about pain during the procedure, and you should heal quickly afterwards. Most patients will only need to have over the counter pain meds.

Relieve Your Pain

People get root canals because they are already in pain. They want to find a solution to that pain caused by infected tooth pulp, and this is the best option in most cases. The treatment will remove the infected pulp, which will quickly relieve the pain you are feeling. This means chewing and getting back to a normal life is easier.

Save the Tooth

Another great thing about root canals is that they will allow you to save your tooth. Instead of getting an implant or a bridge, you will still have your natural tooth. This can provide you with a nice and healthy mouth. Of course, the endodontist will let you know which treatment is best for you.
